Location: Wieser Concrete in Portage, Wisconsin
Manufacturer: Schnell Reinforcement Processing Solutions
Model: Coil 20 3D
Purpose: To provide an automated process for rebar bending and cutting.
As the Wieser Concrete plant in Portage has expanded, so has its technology. In order to save time, money, and material, we installed a new Schnell Coil 20 3D rebar fabrication machine. The Coil 20 is a bi-directional automatic stirrup bender that produces stirrups and cut-to-size bars using rebar ranging from 3/8 inch (#3) to 3/4 inch (#6) diameter. Prior to the upgrade, rebar would need to be shipped in 20-foot sections. However, the new machine is designed to handle 3.5-ton spools with an auto-rebar changer, which will eliminate waste and reduce rebar costs. Now, virtually all rebar will be fabricated in-house and allow for more customization with reinforcement. The machine is driven by digital electric servomotors instead of hydraulic power, which makes it an eco-friendly fabrication solution. Other advantages include increased operator safety due to the automatic operation, reduced lead times, and more accurately finished rebar. View the video below:
