We recently welcomed Mandy Madsen to our Maiden Rock office as our transportation manager. Our current dispatcher, Mike Harmon, celebrated his 50th anniversary with Wieser Concrete in 2019 and is approaching retirement. Until then, Mandy will be training under Mike where she will learn about the complex world of precast concrete dispatching.
Learn more about our new Transportation Manager, Mandy, in the Q&A below!
What is your work experience prior to Wieser Concrete?
For the past three years I was a 911 dispatcher for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. Before that, I was a Certified Nursing Assistant while completing a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Minnesota. While in college I also spent my summers working for the Pierce County Highway Department.
Any professional or educational achievements you’d like to include?
As a 911 dispatcher, I was chosen to be a Validator, which required training and testing out. Validators ensure quality control on numerous important documents like arrest warrants, restraining orders, stolen weapons, stolen vehicles, etc. I was also chosen to be a TAC (TIME Agency Coordinator). This included more training and me and another dispatcher were responsible for making sure that all proper clearances for restricted information had been followed through for FBI auditing purposes. Most importantly, everyday knowing I helped people on their worst days and all my officers, first responders, and firemen went home safely was an achievement! While in college I made the Dean’s list, had projects entered into competitions, one even being sent to Oxford in England.
What are you looking forward to as an employee of Wieser Concrete?
I am looking forward to growing and learning alongside the successful people that have made this company what it is. The future continues to look bright for Wieser Concrete and I am grateful to be a part of it.
Do you have any hobbies, if so would you mind sharing? Things you like to do for fun?
I love to stay active, the outdoors, and being with friends and family. Currently enjoying my volleyball league and playing in tournaments. I love to do anything outside; hunt, fish, garden, and hike. I am excited to finish remodeling my home and look forward to my next project. I enjoy a good book and live music is always an amazing experience.
Any family you would like to share about?
I have a ten-year-old son and a six-year-old daughter, both are active in sports and share my love for the outdoors and animals. Family is very important to us, so, therefore, we spend a lot of time with my sister’s family and with my dad.
Anything else fun and exciting you’d like to share?
I recently purchased a 1956 Chevy 2 door hardtop! I do not know how to change a tire, so the process of fixing it up shall be interesting.
