Shawn Enberg, our installation foreman, just completed our retaining wall project at Cascade Mountain in Portage, WI. Due to the intense 2018 summer rainfall, significant ground saturation caused the existing timber retaining walls at Cascade Mountain to fail. Cascade Mountain is a ski, snowboard, and snow tube resort located in Portage, WI. The project called for new precast concrete retaining walls to be installed around the bunny hill and carpet lift. Also needed were two 6’ x 10’ three-sided vaults to house the top and bottom of the carpet lift while providing easy maintenance access. The lift was raised using precast concrete blocks as the foundation. Delta Precast provided PE sealed design calculations for the customized design to fit the mountain topography. Wieser Concrete produced 310+/- linear feet of freestanding precast retaining walls with a formliner finish ranging 8’ to 16’ tall. Cascade managed the on-site work, while Wieser Concrete delivered and installed the panels.
